Next steps in supported employment: consultation on the way forward
Overview
This discussion paper responds to some of the recommendations on disability employment made by the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability(Opens in a new tab/window). The Commission recommended further consultation on raising sub-minimum wages and ending segregated employment in particular. The purpose of this discussion paper is to outline the range of work already underway to improve employment outcomes for people with disability, particularly those with high support needs, and seek views on the way forward.
The paper predominantly seeks views on the Government response to Royal Commission(Opens in a new tab/window) recommendations related to supported employment. Recognising the interconnected disability employment ecosystem, the paper also covers the work underway to respond to other recommendations.
The discussion paper is accompanied by an easy read version in two parts, and an Auslan translation in two parts.
The consultation closed on 22 June 2025.
