Community conversation guide: International Day of People with Disability 2025

Overview

The International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations day recognised around the world on the 3 December each year. The day aims to promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability. This guide helps guides communities to have conversations about IDPwD and disability more broadly including talking about disability in workplaces, schools, universities and community groups.

The guide has:

  • pointers on starting open and respectful conversations
  • tips on inclusive language
  • themes for your IDPwD event
  • practical advice on communicating with people with disability.

The resource is provided with an Easy read version and the webpage contains an Auslan video and is available in 10 languages other than English.
