Guide for employment professionals: Supporting employment in adults with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder

Overview

This guide, produced by CanFASD in Canada, is for individuals and agencies working with clients with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). It is for use by employment professionals to guide their work as they assist clients in preparing for, obtaining and maintaining employment. The guide is based on current literature, interviews, as well as survey data from people with FASD and their caregivers and support workers.

The document is separated into two evaluation factors – wellbeing factors and work factors. The work factors section is broken down into three phases: 

  • preparing for employment
  • obtaining employment
  • maintaining employment.
