Inclusive employment matters

Overview

A series of videos about people with intellectual disability working in inclusive employment environments in a variety roles including retail, government and recreation. The stories are told by people with disability, their families and employers and highlight the value of inclusive employment for the employees and employers. 

The videos include:

  • Kez and Harris Scarfe
    Kez’s story highlights the value of inclusive employment and long-term workplace support. In this video, Kez shares her experience working for over ten years as a retail team member at Harris Scarfe Ballarat.
  • Harriet and the Victorian government
    Harriet works for a state government organisation as an administration support officer. Harriet's inclusive employment story provides concrete examples of how a person with intellectual disability can become a valued member of a workforce.
  • Davi and Gottlieb's Building Supplies
    Working part-time at Gottlieb’s Building Supplies, Davi proves individuals with intellectual disability are capable, reliable and valued. The videos demonstrates how inclusive hiring not only benefits individuals like Davi but also strengthens the business.
  • Rachel and Knox Leisureworks 
    Rachel found permanent part time employment with Knox Leisureworks through the Community Employment Partnership. This partnership harnesses the networks of Rotarians to find mainstream employment for people with intellectual disability.  
  • Mike and Keysborough Golf Club
    With the assistance of the Community Employment Partnership Mike landed his dream job at the Keysborough Golf Club. This role has increased Mike's confidence and independence and provided several significant business benefits.
  • Emily and Women's Health East
    Emily works part time with Women's Health East. She found this job through the Community Employment Partnership.
  • Zvi Aces Work at The Australian Tennis Open
    Zvi, a passionate tennis fan with an intellectual disability, brings professionalism and enthusiasm to his role as Customer Experience Ambassador at the Australian Open, demonstrating the mutual benefits of inclusive employment.
  • Harvey O'Dwyer - Working at Waves
    Harvey works part-time at Waves Leisure Centre, bringing productivity, team spirit and energy every time he strides through the Waves' entrance.
