Understanding disability
Overview
Women with disability have long faced discrimination, exclusion and silencing. This animated video highlights the six keystones for understanding disability and urges others to challenge ableism, design inclusive structures and respect autonomy and collaborate toward a more just and equitable society.
The six keystones for understanding disability are:
- the social model of disability
- the human rights model of disability
- gender equality
- intersectionality
- centring lived experience
- disability pride.
